Why we Avoid Taking Action

There's no doubt about it, life can be difficult sometimes. It always seems that there are so many decisions to be made and things to do, and there are some tasks and obligations that seem so daunting. There are times when we avoid taking action in certain aspects of our lives because we just aren't sure what to do or we just don't want to face them. All too often, the fear of failure or the inability to come to terms with the past can mobilize us and make us feel as if we are doomed to repeat our mistakes over and over. This often happens at the end of a relationship or marriage. It can often leave us scared about the future and what it may bring.

One reason that people often feel life is passing them by is that they may suffer from depression. Many people aren't even aware they have the condition until they go to the doctor and get an official diagnosis. Symptoms often include being tired a lot, feelings of being unwanted or not good enough, as well as being generally unmotivated. For some people, medication might be required.

Sometimes all it takes to jump start our motivation and energy levels are some simple lifestyle changes. Making sure to get enough sleep, paying attention to the food that we put in our bodies in order to keep our nutrition levels at a good place as well as getting plenty of exercise are all great ways to overcome the negative emotions that plague us all once in a while. Investing time in healthy relationships can bring the mind in a direction that is solution oriented. Going for a morning jog in the sunshine, taking a brisk bike ride or going for a hike at a beautiful park are great mood enhancers.

Although we are not going to win every game we play and there are certain circumstances in life that may be difficult or bring us down, most of those things are temporary. Choosing to take action and therefore accepting that you can control your emotions and channel them in a good direction is the best way get a positive outcome when dealing with those difficult times in life.
