If you are a girl you have at some point suffered form either a minor or a severe case of pink eye, simply from not using clean make-up tools or borrowing your friends who may have had conjunctivitis sometime prior but did not buy new brushes. We are creatures of habit and don't give much importance since we can recover in little time without any big consequences for most. Medically speaking, conjunctivitis is caused by a virus or bacteria, or maybe an allergic reaction that affects the outer membrane lining of the eyeball and lid. During this infection the membrane becomes inflamed and of course can get quite red, which gives the more well known street name.
Main complications about such are watering of both eyes and blurred vision, while crusty granules may start to form, causing discomforts in the form of itchiness or simple irritation. There are two important points to remember and should be followed without giving it second thought, if our priority is not to show up for work looking a bit funny.
First, is to think about others and realize how contagious it is, especially amongst kids or those with a compromised immune system. Sometimes the occurrence stems as a secondary infection when our body is already weekend by another illness, as simple as ear infection. Ways to watch out for are through makeup, using face towels in the bathroom, and of course by someone shedding tears, wiping them with a bare hand and then shaking yours. Be on the look out, since although not serious can get bothersome.
Second important point, being simpleness of treatment. Best way is with antibiotic drops, which at best relief is experienced generally within the first twenty four hours. Some great help comes from a cool compress around affected area to lessen the discomfort if found severe. Avoid rubbing since not only can make it worse but also endanger those around you. Keep plenty of antibacterial gel around and remember that a good way to prevent is to get enough rest, take vitamins keeping our immune system strong and healthy.
