Although getting sick is sometimes unavoidable, there are ways to reduce the risk of certain diseases. Airborne particles or bacteria that can be found on many common surfaces can cause illnesses. Some health issues can also be caused by a virus. Many times they include symptoms such as fever, intestinal issues, and aches and pains along with dehydration. Severity level can range from being bothersome to being deadly, depending on a number of factors. The good thing is that many of those conditions can be avoided by incorporating sanitary guidelines that are simple and very easy to follow.

One of the best ways to avoid germs is to wash hands with soap on a regular basis. This includes after using the bathroom and after handling certain types of food, especially raw meat. It is also a good idea to rinse foods such as fruits and vegetables with bottled or filtered water. Store foods that are prone to spoiling in their proper places, such as the refrigerator or freezer. Many types have an expiration date, and it is never a good idea to eat anything beyond that day it is no longer fresh.

Mold and mildew are two types of fungi that can be particularly worrisome and grow easily due to humidity. Mildew is usually seen first and then it progresses into mold. However, there is a simple solution for getting rid of both of those organisms. Simple household bleach will kill many types of pathogens. Just be sure to use gloves and have good ventilation in the area that you are cleaning, as the fumes can be very strong.

Avoiding sickness can be as simple as washing your hands under very warm water with soap and water for 20 seconds or more, rinsing food before it is eaten and using common cleansers such as bleach on surfaces in order to remove germs. People who take these precautions will easily decrease their chances of contracting certain types of common illnesses, along with a few odd ones as well.
