Tips to Improve Sleep

There is nothing worse than being in bed at night at three in the morning and being wide-awake. The thoughts run through the mind about what has happened in the past, what tomorrow is going to be like, or even be staring at the clock watching each minute pass. It happens to just about everyone at some point during a lifetime, so making sure to understand what causes it is important. The comprehension can give the opportunity to take action so that it won't take place and a normal evenings rest pattern can occur. It is wonderful to wake up fully refreshed and full of healthy energy after a full eight to ten hours of sleep.

The brain responds to stimulants such as caffeine in a way to create a higher level of awareness and increases energy. A great tip is to only have a cup in the morning so that the effects wear off before the end of the afternoon, or better yet is to avoid it all together. Alcohol consumed in amounts greater than one or two drinks helps with the initial part of getting shut eye, but then later causes a person to wake up, it is not a fun experience. So, have a beer or two, or a glass of wine, but not too much.

Diet and exercise play a role in how the entire system functions, both mentally and physically. Sugar and white carbohydrates with a high glycemic index cause an increase in feeling good, then a crash to follow. This wrecks the balance that is necessary for everything to work smoothly each day. Eating a smart balance of proteins, fiber, fats, and a small amount of carbs is a way to provide all the cells the nutrients they need. Keep the meal portions small, especially after one p.m. because it assists with being lighter on the digestion. Activity has to take place, without it there is a block in immune system function and the circulatory system isn't able to clean out the waste and bring vitamins, minerals, and other necessary things to the organs, muscles, and more. It is possible to go early in the day to the gym or fitness club and take forty five minutes to work the body to exhaustion. This is a great strategy that produces results.
